Abstract

In this contribution the research activities in heterogeneous catalysis performed at the Institute of Physics (IF) of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) are described. A brief description of ifunam and the historical review of development at catalysis activities at the institute is presented. The general research line in heterogeneous catalysis, the scientific interests and fields of application, the methodologies for synthesis and infrastructure for physicochemical characterization are presented. Collaboration with other groups at UNAM, universities and research centers in Mexico and abroad are mentioned. Teaching and human resources formation activities are reported. Finally, the main recent achievements in catalysis and areas of opportunity are presented.
