In July 2008, was born Mundo Nano. Interdisciplinary Journal in Nanosciences and Nanotechnology (MN) as an effort made by three entities of the UNAM, one from the Coordination of Humanities: The Center for Interdisciplinary Research in Sciences and Humanities, and two from the Coordination of Scientific Research: the Center of Nanosciences and Nanotechnology, and the Institute of Applied Sciences and Technology (formerly the Center for Applied Sciences and Technological Development).

The editorial project opted for building interdisciplinary bridges between natural and exact sciences and engineering, and of those with social sciences and humanities. Since then, it has emerged as a space in which the state of the art of Nanosciences and Nanotechnology in Mexico and the rest of Latin America is monitored. MN publishes advances and research results, including their social, environmental, ethical and legal implications, as well as their regulatory aspects. It also publishes reviews or state-of-the-art articles on specific topics, particularly useful for teaching.

In March 2022, Mundo Nano. Interdisciplinary Journal in Nanosciences and Nanotechnology launched “Numeralia: Nanosciences and Nanotechnology in Mexico”, a living repository that collects data on institutions that carry out R&D in N&N in Mexico; international and national patents; publications where authors affiliated with a Mexican institution participate; undergraduate and graduate programs in N&N in Mexico; financing; companies in the country and market potential in N&N.
